The International Buddhist Museum

The International Buddhist Museum in Kandy is a unique cultural and religious museum located near the Temple of the Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa). It was established in 2011 to showcase the spread of Buddhism across different countries and cultures around the world.

The museum contains separate exhibition halls for many Buddhist nations such as Sri Lanka, India, China, Japan, Thailand, Myanmar, Nepal, and Korea. Each hall displays artifacts, photographs, statues, and models that represent the history and development of Buddhism in that country.

The International Buddhist Museum helps visitors understand the global influence of Buddhism while highlighting Kandy’s importance as a major religious center.
